Worked with Alec to plan a family vacation on a Seawind 1260. He was able to search the world for the boat we wanted. Alec found us a perfect boat in the Bahamas. It was clean and very well kept. I will 100% in the future work with Alec on my next boating trip.

We took this virtually new boat out of Marsh Harbour in the first week of December 2024. She was not quite a year old at the time and that was a great luxury. I've since sailed a couple of older boats, and while those were 100% satisfactory, the difference was dramatic. In particular, of course, our non-sailor family members really enjoyed that aspect.

The Lagoon 42 is easy to sail, maneuverable under power, and a great platform for a holiday. On this trip there were five of us (one couple and three singles), and we greatly enjoyed the space this afforded. The boat handles 8 without feeling cramped, but there's a bit of maneuvering if everyone's in the same place at the same time.

The Sea of Abaco is a glorious location, of course. Crystal blue waters, almost always fairly shallow so you can see the bottom clearly, which makes anchoring (and fishing I suspect) a breeze. The locals are wonderfully friendly, and there's enough shore-side life and activity that a non-sailing day can happily be spent looking around.

We had a couple of days of winds over 20 kts, and a couple that were almost calm. The barrier islands protect most of the main area from Atlantic swell, though we enjoyed a bit more bouncing around in 25 kt winds from the North East on our way to Treasure Cay due to the couple of miles gap in those islands to the South East of Whale Cay.

Oh, don't walk barefoot on the washed up seaweed. There are vicious sand fleas that live in there. Ignorant of this I ended up with more than 100 very painful bites from these critters. I understand the bites can be quite dangerous, but also found that bathing my feet in the hottest water I could stand seemed to solve the problem very well. Other than the fleas, the beaches are total picture postcard material, and in the first week of December we didn't see another soul on them other than in Hope Town.

Charter went way out of their way to insure that out charter was enjoyable despite the normal boat issues

Everyone at the Marsh Harbour base were EXCELLENT and went out of their way to accommodate our group.
We were able to complete the briefing and checkout early so we could begin our vacation. Checkout was fast and thorough and all of the systems were working. It was raining when we left the base and something in the electronics went haywire and we lost depth, GPS and our Autohelm. Fortunately I have lived on my own catamaran for 8 years so none of that phased me. I had a back up chart on my IPAD so we pressed on to Guana Cay. I notified the base and told them that we were ok and to schedule a mechanic for the next day.
The next morning they sent Shannon the mechanic to our boat. He is a miracle worker!!! Within 10 minutes he had diagnosed our problem as a broken Nema 2000 cable and was able to dis assemble half the boat to install the new one.
I can not tell you how good it felt to have someone else repair your boat!!
We absolutely loved every stop, the pristine beaches and at every stop we hung out with the locals.

The base team at Marsh Harbour were excellent. The boat was in excellent condition when picked up. Terrence was fantastic and went through the navigation charts and provided many helpful tips. Naz and Crabs also made sure the boat was ready and helped in any way they could. Big Charlie provided great restaurant tips. Fantastic vacation!!!

We arrived at the base early to discuss and plan our week and meet our Skipper. We requested an earlier handover and managed to set sail around 3pm rather than spend the first night in the marina, This was very much appreciated. Our catamaran was well maintained and in good order. High spec level etc and everything seemed to be in good working order. Our Skipper Keino was very professional and really joined in with us. He quickly learned our preferences and then planned a trip to suit our needs. A boat's a boat, a Skipper's a Skipper, but the personality of that Skipper is very important and can make a huge difference to your experience. In fact our biggest concern prior to our arrival was our Skipper but Keino did a really great job in both taking care of us and making the week hugely enjoyable. We prefer to spend nights on anchor rather than moorings or in marinas and he found us some great locations each evening.....partly dictated by some poor weather conditions but always great fun. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this destination or operation and we're certainly looking forward to going back sometime in the future.

We truly enjoyed the boat and our crew. We were a little surprised when we showed up that the owner of the company said we couldn't load onto the boat until the exact minute the charter started because of "work going on on the boat" and that we would have to stay in harbor the first night (never our choice). When we went out to the dock, there was no work going on of any kind and the skipper (who was great), said we could get right on and get going. This was awkward, though we did resolve it and headed out for the night. The boat is an amazing boat - going from the 45 to the 52 is a step change a lot bigger than the 7 feet in LOA!

We spent 7 days and went many places, despite persistent mechanical problems with the boat that made us stay in harbors a couple of extra times. In general, we found the Bahamas a bit underwhelming compared to places like Greece, Thailand and the Seychelles - the distances were small between islands and the snorkeling was quite disappointing (all reefs have been fished and damaged beyond repair). On the other hand, the islands were very pretty and the shells were pretty cool and the sand was great - all things that are important!
